Lucy Newham is a qualified Equine Body Worker Lucy has been involved with horses for over 25 years. Lucy is a Monty Roberts Preliminary certificate holder trained by Kelly Marks and Intelligence Horsemanship. Lucy specialises in Equines with behavioural issues, semi feral and young horses.
When visiting horses with behavioural problems Lucy will first check for any signs of pain, one of the main reasons for the change in behavior in horses is due to back pain. Once the back pain is relieved the unwanted behaviours generally disappear. Equine Sports Massage is the therapeutic application of hands-on techniques to increase circulation and range of motion, relieve muscle spasm and tension and enhance muscle tone, using a variety of massage techniques including cross fibre and trigger point therapy. |

Signs of Back Pain
Pulling faces, biting, or kicking out whilst being tacked up, unwilling to stand to be mounted, bucking, rearing, unwilling to move forward, refusing to jump, difficult to back up, not tracking up or over tracking, unable to execute lateral work, changing canter leads behind, not striking off in correct canter lead, unwilling/unable to work up or down inclines or hills, change in disposition.
